The Peacham Road shared-use path and Hill Street sidewalk will create a safe route for recreational users from the intersection of Hill Street and Highland Avenue to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT) and bring LVRT users into Danville Village. Jan Ouellette and Alison Low are the Town leads, coordinating Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS, or “earmark”) among state and local leaders to leverage $383K of local funding into a $1.9M+ project.

Preventing stormwater runoff from Route 2 and parcels on the west side of Hill St from damaging the road and property on the east side is a major concern for any work there and must be addressed while (or before) doing any significant projects in this area. This was the major obstacle to building a parking lot next to the Town Hall, as that would have created larger, much more expensive problems later. The Town plans to address this during the Hill St Sidewalk project (which will be a Town expense, as the CDS does not cover this infrastructure work), but we will be much better off in the future for improving our total wastewater infrastructure as part of a major Congressional project.
