Town Clerks and Treasurers are legally distinct official positions, but Danville voters typically elect one person to fill both who then appoints assistants as needed. The Town Clerk processes and maintains official records and documents pertaining to real property, vital statistics, permits, licenses, and other matters IAW 24 V.S.A. Chapter 35: Town Clerks. The Town Treasurer keeps the financial accounts, investing Town money, keeping a record of the taxes voted and paying the bills IAW 24 V.S.A. Chapter 51: Finances; Accounts and Audits.
The Town Clerk’s office is in the Danville Town Hall at 36 Route 2 West. Office Hours* are 8am to 4pm, Mondays through Fridays; call 802-684-3352 or fax 802-684-9606.

*The Town Office is closed for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving and following Friday, Christmas Day (closes at noon Christmas Eve).
Payments – Property Taxes, Dog Licenses, Wastewater (and Water/DFD#1). Postmarks are not excepted as a timely payment.
The Danville Town Clerk collects payments for multiple bills at the Town Office or online by credit card, ACH, or EFT (extra fees may apply).
- Property Taxes: as set by Town Meeting each year for municipal, highway, and education property taxes
- Wastewater / Sewer: payments are due quarterly
- Dog Licenses: due every year by April 1
- Water: due as billed (Danville Fire District #1, DFD#1, is NOT part of Town government but contracts with the Town of Danville for billing and collection of payments)
