This page lists major ongoing Town projects, along with a short summary (including the Town lead) and related documents or a link to the page that has more information.
DOG PARK: (Alison Low) Danville is strive to establish and maintain an enclosed, off-leash dog park where well-behaved dogs and dog owners can exercise and socialize in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property or wildlife. Alison Low is leading the effort with the Dog Park Committee.
PEDESTRIAN SAFETY: (Glenn Herrin) Danville is working on improving pedestrian safety with public engagement, increased sheriff patrols (started ramping up this summer), and traffic calming measures (recommendations coming this fall for implementation by 2026). Glenn Herrin is leading the effort with the Town Services Committee.
HILL STREET DRAINAGE: (Janice Ouellette) Preventing water runoff from Route 2 and parcels on the west side from damaging the road and property on the east side of Hill Street is a major concern for any work there and must be addressed before doing any significant projects in this area. This is the current obstacle to creating a parking lot next to the Town Hall or extending a sidewalk along Hill Street; building either of those without addressing drainage will only create larger, more expensive problems. Jan Ouellette is leading the effort to coordinate this work with other ongoing projects.
SHARED PATHWAY AND HILL STREET SIDEWALK PROJECT: (Alison Low/Janice Ouellette) The purpose and need of the Peacham Road Shared-Use path and Hill Street Sidewalk as noted in the Bicycle & Pedestrian Pathway Scoping Study prepared for the town in 2014: The purpose of the project is to create a safe route for recreational users from the intersection of Hill Treet and Higland Avenue to the Danville recreational fields located off Peacham Road and to bring users of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail into Danville Village. The need for the project is to improve and expand safe routes for recreational user in the Town of Danville. Jan Ouellette is the Town lead, coordinating the Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS, or earmark) among state and local leaders to leverage $300K of local funding to build a $1.3M project.

TOWN HALL PARKING LOT: (Alison Low) At the 2017 Town Meeting, residents approved Article 28 to purchase the lot west of the Town Hall to add needed parking to the center of town. Demolishing the house took much longer than expected and addressing drainage and survey issues along Hill Street have taken longer still. Alison Low is leading the effort to resolve these issues with grant funding and bring them to implementation in conjunction with the Drainage and Hill Street Sidewalk projects.
WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY (WWTF) UPGRADE: (Alison Low) The village WWTF is due for sludge removal and refurbishment, which should keep Danville compliant with environmental laws and also increase capacity by improving efficiency. Alison Low is the Selectboard lead for the WWTF and the Town Services Committee is working up a recommendation for Selectboard.
BRUCE BADGER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY LANDSLIDE PREVENTION: (Keith Gadapee) Morill Brook is slowly eating away at its banks, encroaching on sections of the road from Danville to North Danville. While not yet an emergency, engineers from the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) determined that it will keep moving towards the highway in the long term. Glenn Herrin is leading the early Selectboard planning and coordination to mitigate the risk within a few years.
